Lync42

Originally from Winchester in Hampshire England UK, Lync42 (Mike Lynch) is an singer songwriter who writes, performs and produces his own songs. His songs have a folktronica feel (but with a balladeer edge) and depict a mix of troubled society and simpler times, images of childhood summers and long forgotten industries. Later albums would focus on country, rock and pop with no particular genre, with songs about losing loved ones and getting older.

Early Life
He grew up with little money in the household - his Mum was left at home to raise 4 kids while his Dad was away in the army. With not much to do (and no real love for the outdoors) he spent his time listening to his parents records. His Mum had an eclectic taste from film scores and show tunes, crooners such as Sinatra, Martin, Tom Jones and popular artists from the 60’s such as the Beatles, Stones, Dave Clark 5, Cliff Richard, Elvis, The Hollies and so on. His Dad was into Jazz and the Big Band sound, Glenn Miller, Dave Brubeck, Joe Loss and James Last. All of these artists made a great impression on him but as he grew into his own listening choices in the 70’s and 80’s, he had the most eclectic taste of all ! From Easy Listening like the Carpenters, to Punk (The Boomtown Rats), electric guitars from Dire Straits, Status Quo, Queen and to the great singer songwriters of that time Manilow, Billy Joel, Dean Friedman, Gerard Kenny. A great time to be around music.

Winchester Radio
Winchester Radio c.1985

Live music and the radio would soon become his close friends and he became a hospital radio DJ in his teen years, whilst being a roadie for a few local DJ’s and then moved onto being a club DJ in the Eighties and then mobile DJ in the Nineties and into the new millenium. These days he produces his own show on MixCloud called "Classic pop and disco" and other specials for Christmas, Halloween and standing in for his good friend Alan Matthews on 'The Rockin' Caravan'. His not-for-profit production company, ShutUpKim Productions (named after one of his favourite French & Saunders sketches), produces the albums, videos, photo shoots and radio shows.

Later Life
After 9 years as a mechanic / autoelectrician, a career in public services for 30 years sidelined just about everything for sometime but he decided to learn how to write songs "to scoop them out of his head" in his own words, so he worked hard on songwriting and playing guitar. With 3 singles released in 2017, Champagne Dreams, Maybe Tomorrow and Drive the Five (Those Medford Boys), the album was shaping up nicely.
Drive the Five and Maybe Tomorrow were awarded "Higher Commended" awards at the UK Songwriting Competition 2017.

Still DJing !

2018
Started with the release of the album "Maybe Tomorrow". A couple of songs did quite well on Facebook with views of over 7000. He also played The Paignton Festival in the summer - a great event for local charities.

2019
He started work on a new album, with 3 tracks now laid down and another 16 written. The recording / production equipment was packed ready for a house move, so the album was put on hold. All very exciting !

Filmed in Spain

2020
Continued to write lyrics throughout lockdown, in July he was finally allowed into Spain where he now lives, retired from full time work. The album 'Listening Through a Microscope' was released in November 2020. The album failed to sell well due to lack of promotion and the fact that it was outsourced to a company in Italy who added so much postage no-one wanted to buy it. He is fond of this album, with great tracks such as ; 'Sometimes you have to walk away', 'selfie Girl' and 'Thats another one gone'.

Now fully ensconced into life in Spain, he set about his 3rd album. This one would be different, he wrote over 25 tracks during the year and only the best ones made the cut. It would featured some guitar, but would be more 'piano-centric'. Now, not working full time, he had to learn to master the album himself. On top of this, he moved again, buying a beautiful villa with views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in a village West of Granada

2022
With the new album finished around August, he spent the rest of the year making doing his radio show on MixCloud, making videos, getting the artwork ready and polishing the mix.

2023
The album Change Up! was released in February 2023. A mix of soft driving songs and rocky pop songs, it continues to do well, mainly on YouTube. Due to some personal issues in his life, again promotion of the album never happened. He is extremely proud of this album.
